Expert Care.
Proven Methods.
Physical therapy (PT) is a healthcare field dedicated to the prevention, treatment, and management of movement disorders and physical impairments. At Performance Physical Therapy, our physical therapists specialize in musculoskeletal health, employing various techniques and exercises to enhance patients' physical function and mobility, alleviate pain, and prevent injuries or disabilities.
Physical therapy is commonly recommended for a variety of conditions, such as musculoskeletal injuries, neurological disorders, sports injuries, chronic pain, and post-surgical recovery. Depending on each patient's unique needs, PT sessions may include manual therapy, strengthening exercises, mobility work, and the use of modalities like ultrasound, electrical stimulation, and heat or cold therapy.

Below is a list of the core services that we provide. While it is not all that we do, these methods of physical therapy are what set us apart from the rest.
Our Services

Blood Flow Restriction
BFR is a game changer in the world of rehab! Before, it would take weeks, if not months, for an injured athlete or post-op patient to begin applying forces equal to 70-80% of their 1 rep max. BFR enables the patient to get those same results, but at 30-40% of their 1 rep max. While minimizing atrophy, BFR allows the return of power, endurance, and functional performance in a fraction of the time it used to take.
MANUAL THERAPY
Manual therapy is a hands-on treatment of muscles, tendons, ligaments, and joints. Manual therapy covers a broad group of specialized techniques performed by hand and by uniquely trained clinicians. These may include mobilizations of soft tissue and joints, specific stretching techniques, and other osteopathic approaches such as muscle energy techniques, strain-counterstrain and may be complemented by certain taping techniques. Manual therapy techniques aim to decrease pain and restore function.
ORTHOPEDIC PHYSICAL THERAPY
Orthopedic Physical Therapy is the core of our practice and represents the majority of the services we offer. Physical Therapy, provided by a licensed Physical Therapist (PT), is a medical specialty that focuses on the prevention and treatment of musculoskeletal and neuromuscular dysfunction. Physical Therapists specialize in anatomy and physiology and are experts in understanding how movement, posture, and function affect the wellness of an individual.
TPI GOLF PERFORMANCE
Our TPI Golf Performance Program is unique in that the Certified TPI Instructor is also a licensed physical therapist and avid golfer. This uniquely combined skill set offers unparalleled insight into the physical limitations affecting the golf swing. The physical therapist’s experience working in orthopedics and sports medicine, combined with the TPI program will provide a comprehensive, golf-specific physical examination and a customizd golf strength and flexibility program specific to the individual golfer’s needs.
Dry Needling
Dry needling is a therapeutic technique designed to alleviate pain and improve muscle function. It involves the use of fine, sterile needles inserted into trigger points—tight knots within the muscles that can cause discomfort and restrict movement. This treatment helps release tension, reduce inflammation, and restore proper muscle function, promoting faster recovery and overall wellness. At our Bellingham clinic, we use dry needling as part of a personalized approach to help you move and feel your best.
MOTOR VEHICULAR ACCIDENT RECOVERY
Motor vehicle accidents can have devastating effects on the body. It is not uncommon to see everything from whiplash and fractures to muscle strains and tearing. Studies have shown that getting in to see a physical therapist as soon as possible following the accident will help the patient get back to work or their sport faster. Physical therapy is important in helping those who have been injured in motor vehicle accidents, as it helps to reduce stiffness and improve range of motion, while also aiding in overall recovery.
INSTRUMENT ASSISTED SOFT TISSUE MOBILIZATION (IASTM)
IASTM is a therapy that regenerates healthy soft tissues (muscles, tendons, etc.), and eliminates or reduces unwanted scar tissue that may be causing pain or movement restrictions. IASTM treatment is highly effective and even works when other approaches routinely fail.
CERTIFIED SENIOR STRENGTH TRAINER (C.S.S.T.)
As certified by the International Weightlifting Association (IWA), this highlights exceptional knowledge and expertise for Physical Therapists and Assistants in the area of strength training for older adults. Strength training benefits are numerous and research has shown it to be safe and effective for the older population. This program design includes strength training programs specifically for seniors and modifications for older adults and special populations and considerations for age related conditions.
TEMPOROMANDIBULAR JOINT DYSFUNCTION
Our Temporomandibular Dysfunction Program focuses on assessment, direct intervention, and patient education. The goal of our program is to decrease pain, improve posture, and maximize function of patients through efficient and effective delivery of outcomes-based physical therapy services.
SUSPENSION TRAINING
Using the TRX suspension trainer, this is an approach to strength training that uses a system of ropes and webbing called a “suspension trainer” to allow users to work against their own body weight. We can treat a variety of conditions ranging from shoulder, neck, lower back, hip and knee problems to balance dysfunctions.
STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING SPECIALIST (C.S.C.S)
Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialists® (CSCS®) are professionals who apply scientific knowledge to train athletes for the primary goal of improving athletic performance. They conduct sport-specific testing sessions, design and implement safe and effective strength training and conditioning programs and provide guidance regarding nutrition and injury prevention. Recognizing that their area of expertise is separate and distinct, CSCSs consult with and refer athletes to other professionals when appropriate.
CUSTOM ORTHOTICS
Custom orthotics are shoe inserts that are designed specifically for each individual’s foot to promote sound structural integrity of the foot and leg. We call this proper Biomechanical Alignment. They help re-distribute the pressures on the bottom of the foot to help improve biomechanical forces that may be causing your lower extremity pain, SI pain or spine pain.
Pediatric Physical Therapy
Our highly trained professionals are experienced in treating a variety of pediatric injuries and conditions. From torticollis in infants to young athlete's ACL's, we are Bellingham's go-to for pediatric physical therapy.
